Plans over Break?!

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

This time of year is extremely stressful for college students. Finals are rapidly approaching and students are getting stressed out. However, in just a few short weeks will be time for Winter break!

Going home and seeing your family, whether they live near or far, is always a rewarding time. For approximately 4 weeks, you have no homework, no tests tot study for, no teachers asking you why you’re late to class, or no cold walks on campus in the rain. You can treat yourself to a relaxing break for all of your hard work during the semester. Some like to travel, some like to sleep all day, and some like to get a part time job. Whatever you choose to do, love it!

Leaving your apartment for about a month requires you to make some important adjustments before you leave, if you go to your hometown. Be sure to leave a clean, tidy area upon your return. Also, secure all windows and doors before departing, and keep your thermostat at a reasonable level to avoid freezing pipes. Coming back to Coleman Place after a long relaxing break to a clean apartment is a great way to kick off a new semester!

Have a Red, Gold and Green Summer!

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Congrats to our USC grads. Good luck in the world! For those who are coming back next year, enoy your summer and we will see you in the fall!

West 27th Place is getting super excited about opening our doors to USC students and offering Trojans a greener alternative to USC off-campus student housing. Even though our doors will be officially opening this fall, construction will be finished over the summer. We’ll be here to welcome you back, greenly. Currently, we are LEED® registered and anticipate a Platinum certification, making us one of the greenest buildings in the city.

In the meantime, have a great summer and make us, West 27th Place, proud by making it a Red, Gold and Green summer. Here are some tips for getting your green on over the summer break:

1. Stay Green. Stay Local.
Eat and play locally this summer to reduce your impact on the environment. Farmers markets are great places to shop, eat and get you green on.

2. Grill it Up.
Propane burns much cleaner than both wood and charcoal briquettes. Fill up that propane tank and burn clean this summer.

3. Less Cool is More Cool.
Air conditioning is a gift, but it is also overused. Turn that thermostat down a few degrees and you can help make the planet a cooler place as well.

4. Get an Itzy Bitzy Teeny Weeny, Eco-friendly, Green Bikini!
Look for eco-friendly summer styles and products, like green swimsuits, sandals, and skin care products.

5. The Green Mile Challenge
Put some miles on those walking shoes and bikes. You’ll emit less and have a better shot of coming back lean and green next fall.

Have a Red, Gold and Green summer and we will see you when we get back!
